Bemana

 

Bemana Pittsburgh is a leading industrial recruiter in the region. Located in the heart of the Steel City, Pittsburgh is home to diverse cultures and a long history. This region is home to the nation's largest manufacturing industry, which has grown by 27% since 2009. With technological advances advancing the manufacturing industry, it has created a high demand for skilled labor. Navy Recruiting Command

 

On 9/11, the United States Navy Recruiting Command in Pittsburgh held a ceremony to honor the men and women who lost their lives in the attacks. Chief Petty Officers Stephanie Dora, Jason Phillips, and Nicholas Zubey spoke at the event. Several of these Sailors will continue to serve the country by recruiting the next generation of sailors. The change of command ceremony is an annual tradition that honors the Navy's history and accomplishments while introducing the new leadership.

 

The Navy Pittsburgh Recruiting Center is one of more than 1,400 recruiting stations around the United States. These recruiting stations are organized into 26 Navy Recruiting Districts. Each District is governed by a regional commander. These recruiting offices are responsible for attracting the next generation of sailors. These recruiters carry out the mission of the NRC, which is to increase the size and quality of the Navy's force.

911th Airlift Wing

 

The 911th Airlift Wing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a part-time job in the US Air Force Reserve. There are more than 70 exciting career opportunities in the Air Force Reserve, including paid basic training, student assistance programs, and veteran's benefits. Air Force Technician Recruiter Master Sgt. Jeremiah Murphy is located at the Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station in Pennsylvania. Murphy, who is from Western Pennsylvania, joined the Air Force in 2009.

 

The 911th Airlift Wing is part of the 4th Air Force, but is staffed entirely by Air Force Reserves. The group includes more than 900 Air Force Reserve members from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio, as well as 10 percent from other parts of the United States. This wing performs active duty training for 15 days each year, and aircrew members train more often to meet flight qualification standards.

Penn State University

 

Recruiting has long been a major concern for Pitt football fans. While Pittsburgh has a rich tradition of recruiting high school athletes, Penn State has a reputation for being the most selective in the state. The three-headed staff of James Franklin, Bill O'Brien and Joe Paterno have a reputation for picking up some of the top recruits from the region. Outside linebacker Jack Ham attended Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, while inside linebacker LaVar Arrington attended North Hills High School and played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. LaVar Arrington starred as a sophomore and blocked a field goal in 1999. Also, current Penn State assistant coach Terry Smith attended Pittsburgh's Gateway High School.

 

For the sports fan, the campus has many media outlets, including student-run publications like The Daily Collegian, Onward State and The Underground. The university's sports teams compete in the NCAA's Division I conference, as does the University of Pennsylvania. Onward State is an interdisciplinary, multicultural student media site, while the Penn State Swim Club competes in the American Swimming Association-University League. Other media outlets include Valley, a style and life magazine, and Phroth, a humor magazine.
